They provide optimal maneuverability and traction because of a heavy-duty oscillating joint which offers 45-degree turning angles toward the right and left, together with 10 degrees of oscillation in either direction. Access is granted to confined and tight spaces by narrow machine widths. Most skid-steer loaders with equivalent operating capacities are unable to compete. The tires and bucket on the Gehl machine follow a stable turn radius also. This means the back tires of the loader follow the course of the front tires.

Fantastic hydraulic performance, along with several time-saving features on the Gehl articulated loaders, provides clients with the hydraulic power and precision they have come to expect from all the Gehl equipment. Lift arm and bucket float features permit these equipment to do rearward level and light scraping actions. Flat-face couplers, with the two easily reachable auxiliary hydraulic lines power many tools and make changing the accessories an easy job to perform.

Gehl articulated loaders have uniquely built hoist arms that are constructed so as to achieve maximum strength, fast cycle times and great visibility. The specialized linkage pattern allows for mechanical self-leveling action in either the up and down directions. It can also simply execute excellent bucket dump angles at the mid and top ranges of the lift path along with providing superb forward reach. Models 340 and 140 have parallel type linkage and the model 540 has "Z" bar type linkage. These linkage patterns provide fantastic bucket breakout forces from 2433lbs on the 140 model to 10,749lbs on the model 540.

Known all over the globe for their ease of operation, Gehl articulated loaders provide excellent visibility and supreme ergonomics. The models 540 and 340 have closed cabs options obtainable. This offers comfort and safety for the operator. Secure operation and 360 degree visibility is sustained by positioning the individual operating it above the load to ensure an exceptional view of the accessory. An inching pedal permits the one operating it to vary ground speed while maintaining a fixed engine speed. This feature enables the person operating it to optimally run attachments while ensuring precise engine velocity control. A multi-function joystick controls the bucket, travel direction, float, differential lock and auxiliary hydraulic functions and the lift arm.
